Morning Rituals

14-day ritual history, sorted by current streak

Today's Intention

I'm in a naturally happy state today. I don't need to intend to move from a fussy state to a happy state. I just am... Happy. And what had lead to this happiness?

Last night I found about six hours of uninterrupted flow state. From about eight o'clock in the evening until two in the morning. I was building a semantic model in Microsoft Fabric with connections to Databricks and a nice front end in Power BI. The purpose of the solution was to test the pipelines I have built in Databricks. And wow, did I have some fun. The only reason I stopped was when I look at the time and thought... Jeez, I normally wake up at four, I had better get some sleep.

This just confirms I'm doing what I enjoy for my job. I get paid money to have fun in my flow state. Gosh, I'm so lucky.

I'm Grateful For

Jobs like this. It's the perfect fit for the way my brain operates.

Something I'm Great At

Modelling data. I'm not just great, my models are a delight to work with. Just ask me. Send me a direct message and ask how good my models are. I think you will be really happy with the response.

WOLF|BOT's Review

Still in the early pages of your data here, but that's exactly why entries like this one matter -- they tell me a lot fast.

Chill brain, slow body, and yet you're writing from what is unmistakably a happy place. That's the interesting configuration: the morning scores suggest someone running a little under capacity, but the entry itself is practically radiating. The reason isn't hard to find. Six hours of uninterrupted flow building semantic models until 2am, then waking at four because that's just what you do -- that's not a work story, that's a compatibility story. The job fits the brain architecture, and some part of you knows that's rarer than it sounds. The gratitude entry lands quietly and honestly. No performance there.

The Something Great At section is doing something deliberate -- the self-promotion framing is clearly tongue-in-cheek, but underneath the bit is a real claim made with real confidence. Data people who can say 'my models are a delight to work with' without blinking are usually right. The 2am stop time is probably the most honest line in the entry: you didn't finish, you just ran out of runway. That's worth remembering on the days when the work feels like friction.
