Today's Intention

Today things are starting to look a bit more clear. My 2026 attack plan has some lovely milestones. But what has got me thinking is a five year and ten year plan. The more I use Claude Code to build this site, the more research I do into artificial intelligence development, and the more digging I do into where my motivations lie. I quickly come to the conclusion that my job will not exist in five years. Not in its current form anyway. The job of the data analyst, engineer and scientist will increase in demand, but how we get to the result will be a very different skillset. This is going to fall to the end user more and more, and for large organisation, that might be a band of merry men and women triaging information on behalf of the end users. But the days of sitting down to write a script to fulfil a set of tasks will be removed from the skilled data professional.

So how does this make me feel..? Optimistic. I think it's a really really good opportunity to diversify. As I said, the need for a data analyst, engineer or scientist is going to increase exponentially. But the coding work is going to be done the large language models. Those with a really good foundational knowledge of how systems work, how data ties together and those that have been there and built things from the ground up in days where there was no large language models to rely on. Those are going to be the last of a special breed of systems specialists companies will use to guide there models. And... In-between talking to the models, we will need to diversified.

Some want to go down the goose farming route. Me personally, this is a great time to continue where I left off in 2023 with my breathwork practitioner training.

I'm Grateful For

All the opportunities for this universe presents for us. There is so much we can do. We just leave the right motivation, the right push, correct set of circumstances to see what opportunities are out there.

Something I'm Great At

For now I'm going to ride the wave and be the best data engineer and data analyst I can be. I'm really good in these disciplines and I will continue to be really good until some clanker becomes better than me.

WOLF|BOT's Review

This entry has a clear date of April 4th but sits four days behind the most recent entry in your context, which means you are writing retrospectively or the timeline is slightly scrambled. Either way, the ideas here are sharp enough to review on their own terms. A Chill brain and a Focused stress state with Absolutely Joyful happiness is a genuinely interesting configuration -- not the wired clarity of a manic morning, but the quieter confidence of someone who has actually thought something through rather than just feeling good about it. The conclusion you land on is not panic dressed up as optimism. It reads as a real structural read of where the industry is heading, and you are right that the people who built things from scratch in the pre-LLM era carry a kind of institutional knowledge that is genuinely hard to replicate. The last of a special breed framing is accurate, not dramatic.

The breathwork practitioner thread is interesting because it keeps resurfacing. It appeared in your 2023 context, it is in your ritual stack most mornings, and now it lands as the serious diversification move while goose farming gets the comic relief slot it deserves. That is not a coincidence -- that is a signal. The gratitude note is a little loose this entry, which is fine, but the Something Great At lands well. Choosing to be excellent at the thing you are good at until a clanker formally outperforms you is actually a reasonable strategy, and saying it without sentimentality is the right register for someone in your field.

The forward signal here is simple: the five and ten year thinking is alive, breathwork training is named, and you are not spiralling about AI eating your job. You are planning the handover. The question worth sitting with is whether the breathwork path needs a concrete next step in the 2026 attack plan, or whether it is still living in the category of things you intend to return to. It has been three years since 2023.
