Today things are starting to look a bit more clear. My 2026 attack plan has some lovely milestones. But what has got me thinking is a five year and ten year plan. The more I use Claude Code to build this site, the more research I do into artificial intelligence development, and the more digging I do into where my motivations lie. I quickly come to the conclusion that my job will not exist in five years. Not in its current form anyway. The job of the data analyst, engineer and scientist will increase in demand, but how we get to the result will be a very different skillset. This is going to fall to the end user more and more, and for large organisation, that might be a band of merry men and women triaging information on behalf of the end users. But the days of sitting down to write a script to fulfil a set of tasks will be removed from the skilled data professional.

So how does this make me feel..? Optimistic. I think it's a really really good opportunity to diversify. As I said, the need for a data analyst, engineer or scientist is going to increase exponentially. But the coding work is going to be done the large language models. Those with a really good foundational knowledge of how systems work, how data ties together and those that have been there and built things from the ground up in days where there was no large language models to rely on. Those are going to be the last of a special breed of systems specialists companies will use to guide there models. And... In-between talking to the models, we will need to diversified.

Some want to go down the goose farming route. Me personally, this is a great time to continue where I left off in 2023 with my breathwork practitioner training.

All the opportunities for this universe presents for us. There is so much we can do. We just leave the right motivation, the right push, correct set of circumstances to see what opportunities are out there.

For now I'm going to ride the wave and be the best data engineer and data analyst I can be. I'm really good in these disciplines and I will continue to be really good until some clanker becomes better than me.
